A Baseline Ecological Evaluation (BEE) was conducted at the subject property in accordance with NJDEP’s Technical Requirement (N.J.A.C. 7:26E). The purpose of BEE is to identify the potential for adverse ecological effects resulting from site contamination on potential sensitive ecological receptors (if any) within the immediate vicinity of the subject property.

The following sections of this BEE provide and evaluation of the area of concern on the property, a general qualitative description of any environmentally sensitive areas identified within and immediately adjacent to the subject property, a description of the potential contaminant migration pathways, and BEE conclusions.

SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS

ANCO Environmental Services, Inc. (ANCO) was retained by the Estate of Janet S. Ford to provide professional environmental services specifically with respect to the removal of one (1) 550-gallon gasoline Underground Storage Tank (UST) at the 38 Route 31, Flemington, NJ commercial property.

The tank was found to be leaking. The following summarizes the UST removal, remedial action, groundwater and soil sampling activities, followed by Mark Annis Gillette ANCO’s recommendations.

Mark Annis Gillette ANCO’s Recommendations

Based on the activities performed at the site, no additional work/investigation is required. The rationale is as follows:

a) The primary sources of contamination- the UST and contents were removed and properly disposed.

b) The secondary source of contamination, impacted soil surrounding the tank, has been removed.

c) The UST area has since been backfilled with certified clean fill and area restored.

d) All post-excavation soil sample results were well within limit.

e) Groundwater analysis proves the discharge did not affect the water table.

Therefore, based on the activities performed at the site and the results obtained ANCO respectfully recommends a “No Further Action” finding for the subject site, and the issuance of a Response Action Outcome letter.
